According to Wikipedia, politics is the process of decision-making for groups. I can't find a definitive attribution for the alternative definition which refers to many blood sucking insects, so instead I will throw in Will Rogers' definition of diplomacy as the art of saying "Nice doggy" until you can find a rock.
I am constantly outraged by the behaviour of those in power and either cursed or blessed with a an obligation to try to do something about it. Becoming a "politician" is not the way for me though - I like to work through alternative channels - the personal is the political. I am located at (-7.38, -6.46) on The Political Compass, which places me somewhere near Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama.
In his article Our Kids are in Big Trouble Lawrence Lessig hits a particularly significant nail on the head when he points out that the future doesn't vote.
