I tend (perhaps naively) to trust doctors in the UK and am sceptical about most "alternative medicine". The best thing is just to stay healthy in the first place, by getting plenty of exercise, eating right and avoiding stress. Not that I practise what I preach necessarily, and my most self destructive habit is smoking tobacco. I gave up for over three years but then had a relapse. I must try to kick the habit again. One of the big problems these days in the UK is the "epidemic" of childhood obesity. Lack of exercise and ready availability of junk food are clearly the most probable causes.
