Intro

2010-01-16

I was born and raised in Hertfordshire and although I escaped for a few years it is where I have spent the majority of my life. In 1994 I made a wise/lucky decision to buy a house in Hatfield. Not that Hatfield is a particularly great town, but I am only 5 minutes walk from my parents, 10 from the University of Hertfordshire (where I worked for nearly 6 years) and 15 from Hatfield Station where I can catch a train which (provided it doesn't fly off the rails) will whisk me effortlessly southward to London Kings Cross in less than half an hour.

Apart from the train crash and the University (formerly Hatfield Polytechnic), Hatfield is probably most famous for Hatfield House (home to the 7th Marquess of Salisbury), Prog Rock band Hatfield and the North (named after a road sign) and the de Havilland Comet airliner.

That seems like enough of an introduction, for further general information check out the HertsDirect website.
